Marrakech – The Rose city

Aug-12-2008 By Adventurer

The African city of Marrakech is situated in southwestern Morocco in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. This North African city offers a unique blend of the traditional and the contemporary heritage.
The main site of attraction in Marrakech is the El Badi Palace build by sultan Ahmed el-Mansour. It is a piece of architectural wonder and great ornate craftsmanship. The next most popular destination is the Djemaa el-Fna (the square of the dead). This square is the centre of the life of the city and is thronged by various Moroccan tattoo artists, story tellers, belly dancers, merchants, musicians and potion sellers. Other popular attractions include the Sa’adian Tombs, Majorelle Garden and Museum of Islamic Art.

Any compulsive shopaholic can enjoy shopping to his/her heart’s content in Marrakesh. Shopping items includes handcrafted leather bags, various aromatic Moroccan oils, Moroccan cooking pots, jellabas, kaftans, hand woven carpets, lamp shades, art works and small crafts as souvenir items.
