Tórshavn: A Faroe Islands site of interest
Torshavn, a part of the Faroe Islands, is replete with sites of interest. The place is known for its exotic spread of sea food and the multi cuisine restaurants that spot the region. The region is characterized by small wooden houses with turf roofs, some dating back 500 years! Talk about heritage preservation! Torshavn is home to the world famous Tórshavn Dome, Tórshavn harbor, Listasavn Føroya Art Museum and the popular church Vesturkirkjan that flaunts exteriors designed by none other than Hans Pauli Olsen. Accommodation at Torshavn ranges from high end hotels to romantic villas, and most are less than twenty minutes walk to the beach. Hotel rooms are generally well reviewed, with special ornate spa rooms available for that romantic getaway. With champagne, some luxury lingerie (for him or her) and a nice view of the water, Torshavn is that much needed dream getaway for two. A place also not to miss is Cafe Natur, which is one of the favorite hangouts in town.
For nature lovers there is the museum of Natural History and its attached botanical garden. Another unique aspect of Torshavn is that Niels Finsens gøta remains its only pedestrian street. Delicious food, attractive nightlife, humble hospitality and internationally acclaimed hotels and restaurants make Torshavn the venue to choose for the next vacation. Torshavn in the Faroe Islands is a topper on most travel agent charts today.
