Founded in 59BC by Julius Caesar, Florence is one of the most beautiful and most visited cities of Italy. Known for its art and architecture this city features in UNESCO’S list of world heritage sites.

The main attraction of Florence is the Piazza Della Signoria, which is Florence biggest open air exhibition centre. This square has been a site of important political activity of the region. The Cathedral de Santa Maria del Fiore is known for its intricate marble work that evokes wonder .The Campanile – Bell Tower offers an amazing view of the city and its nearby areas. Very close to the Bell Tower lies the Baptistery of John the Baptist. Build in the 11 century it is regarded as one of Florence‘s oldest building.

Other major attractions include the Bargello Museum, Academia Gallery, Palazzo Vecchio, Uffizi Museum, Boboli Gardens and the Pitti Palace.

Florence has an excellent collection of renaissance art and architecture, tourists can also buy beautiful leather goods, or jewelry made from gold or silver. Edible items are also freely available in the various open air markets of Florence.
